Cook Islands Attractions

The Cook Islands attract the tourists by the exotic location, spectacular scenic views, pristine nature, and friendly open-hearted people. The most suitable time to visit this region is during the months of September and October, when the weather is not very hot. Coming to the country, you are lucky to participate in festivals and national events, to take part in folk dances and cultural shows, to enjoy local arts and crafts. The major events include Christmas, New Year, Good Friday, Easter Monday and Constitution Day. In order to understand this country fully the tourists should visit as many areas as it is possible. Start your travel at the island of Aitutaki. The main attraction of the place is beautiful lagoon, making the island one of the top destinations. The best way to explore the amazing world of Aitutaki is to take one of several suggested cruises, which are very exciting. In spite of its tiny size, the Atiu Island has more than 28 uninhabited beaches together with jungles, caves, and fossil coral reefs. Do not miss the Atiu Fibre Arts Studio, where a wide array of art exhibits is displayed. Another major attraction of the place is Coffee Factory with vast coffee plantations. The island is also proud of its Vairakai Marae waterfalls, Raka's Cave, and other sights.

Looking for another destination at the Cooks, choose the island of Mangaia and you won’t be disappointed, because of numerous tourist attractions located there. The fact that it is the oldest island in the Pacific region makes the travel even more challenging. The tourists will be able to enjoy the cliffs, coral reefs, volcanoes and to feel the scenic beauty of the island. The top attraction of the area is, of course, Te Rua Rere (a burial cave that was discovered in the early 20th century). If you are eager to travel on foot, visit the Mauke Islands, their small size makes the journey exciting and unforgettable. The top rated tourist spots in Mauke Islands are the Zion Church and the Motuanga Cave. Apart from being the capital of the Cook Islands Rarotonga is also an ideal gateway from the bustling metropolis. Lush tropical vegetation, distant beaches, rich wildlife will for sure take the tourists’ breath away. One of the most frequently visited tourist attractions in Rarotonga is Muri Beach or Muri Lagoon, located on the southeast of the island.
